Mark Whitney and Performance Analysis

Mark began his racing career at the short tracks in New England.  Some of his first insights came from multi-time champion Mike Stefanik. Mark continued working in the northeast in both the Modified Tour and Busch Grand National North Series.

Mark earned his degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Miami. His studies concentrated on internal combustion engines. Projects while at the University included prototype radiator designs and suspension components. Mark worked, for two years, as Assistant Project Manager for the University's Telecommunications division.

Mark started Performance Analysis in 1989 as a way to deduct his racing expenses.  The company evolved into a multi-faceted motorsports consulting company featuring manufacturer representation, technical writing, product development and other motorsports consulting.  Mark started in 1993 providing computer and consulting services to teams in New England. He also works very closely with racing parts manufacturers integrating their racing products into different racing markets, to solve particular problems.

Since 1993, Mark has been employed as Technical Editor for a New England based racing magazine publishing house.  This house owns three magazines: Trackside, Dirt Late Model and Late Model Racer. One of his main responsibilities at the magazine is coordination with manufacturers and race teams the testing and evaluation of new products and technology. He has over 170 technical articles published.

Mark has been recognized for his knowledge of the sport and new technology.  He has organized his own and been an invited speaker at regional- motorsports seminars. His talks centered on on-board computers and computer technology in motorsports.

In addition to the Modified Tour and Busch North Series, Mark has also worked as the over-the-wall crew for Winston Racing Series, ARCA SuperCars, and Busch Grand National Series Cars. He has also been secondary spotter at road courses and tracks with obstructed views for the primary spotter. Penske Racing Shocks in Reading, Pennsylvania has trained Mark, on how to tune and rebuild their shock absorbers. He also has shock dyno experience.

In 1997, Mark moved from Miami, Florida to Mooresville, North Carolina to begin consulting for the professional divisions in NASCAR.  In 1999, Performance Analysis celebrated it's 10th year Anniversary with new consulting contracts and new clients. 

In early 1999, Mark began working with Johnnie and Lisa Jones' "The Edge Racing Products" because he saw the potential in the products they were working with.  The Edge Racing Products has continued to grow throughout 1999 and 2000 and looks to have a boundless future.

Additionally in 1999, Mark started submitting articles to Stock Car Racing Magazine.  The first one was printed in the November issue.

In 2000, Mark began writing for Circle Track Magazine and tripled PA's sales from their levels in 1999.

In 2001, Performance Analysis began working with Nomaco of Zebulon, NC.  Nomaco is the largest producer of Roll Bar Padding in the United States.  Performance Analysis is the exclusive distributor for Nomaco Roll Bar Padding and works closely with Nomaco to develop new driver safety products with the technologies that Nomaco utilizes everyday.  The year ended with sales doubling from 2000's levels.

2002, began with the best January sales numbers ever.  Working with Nomaco the introduction of the Tuff Guard Roll Bar Padding was kicked off in April.  Performance Analysis also began working associations with Rhino Composites.

In 2003, PA continued growing and adding new products and customers.  The sports side of the business grew at a rapid rate and is becoming a larger part of the overall sales.

2004 is the 15th year of, the company that is now called, Performance Analysis doing business in Motorsports.  This year the athletic side of the company grew again through our work with Athletic trainers and sports products manufacturers and dealers.  New product were added this year in the areas of Roll Bar Padding, Impact padding and heat protection motorsports products.
